Dosage and direction

Do not exceed 2 tablets/caplets in any 8- to 12-hour period, and do not exceed 3 tablets/caplets in 24 hours. The smallest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary. Swallow whole with a full glass of water; do not crush, chew, or dissolve the tablet. Take with food or milk to minimize stomach upset.

Precautions

• Do not use for more than 10 days for pain or 3 days for fever unless directed by a doctor.
• Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as it may increase the risk of stomach bleeding.
• Consult a doctor before use if you have a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, heart disease, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, asthma, or if you are taking a diuretic.
• Not recommended for use during the last trimester of pregnancy.

Contraindications

Aleve is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to naproxen, aspirin, or other NSAIDs.
